MEET BRIDGET
My story
I began taking yoga classes in 2011 as a complement to my running routine, and I never left. I loved finding new ways to stretch and strengthen my body, and I quickly grew to appreciate the physical and emotional awareness that yoga fosters. I completed my 200 hour RYT training in 2016 under the direction of Leslie Coombs (E-RYT 500), and gave birth to my second daughter two months later. I struggled greatly with both physical issues and postpartum anxiety and OCD. Thankfully, I had access to good support from my husband, family, physical therapy, and lots of sessions with a therapist who specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. In 2019, I pursued prenatal certification (RPYT) and found the courage to put myself out there as a resource for other women navigating the messy/beautiful experience of motherhood. Currently, I use yoga teachings and many cups of tea to find sanity while running after two active children as I build my teaching practice.
My yoga
I believe that all bodies are yoga bodies! No matter your shape, age, or fitness level, you can practice yoga. In class, I keep a lighthearted spirit as I weave together the breath, body, and movement with mindful awareness. This is what "be here now" is all about: staying in the present moment and learning to cultivate mindfulness. I offer modifications for poses and use props when appropriate; your safety and comfort are foremost in my mind. My goal is to use this ancient practice to facilitate your own discovery of your path and yourself.

FAQ
The Answers You Need
WHAT IS HATHA YOGA?
"Hatha" simply refers to the practice of physical postures. The word itself means willful or forceful, thus relating to the physical aspect of yoga. "Hatha" can also be translated as sun, or hot (ha), and moon, or cold (tha). In this sense, hatha yoga is a balancing practice that aligns and calms the mind, body, and spirit. In class, we learn to balance strength with flexibility and the effort and ease of the postures.
I'M NOT FLEXIBLE. CAN I DO YOGA?
Yes! Flexibility is not a prerequisite for attending yoga classes. In fact, most students often find their range of motion, strength, and yes, flexibility, improving after having established a regular yoga practice. A good teacher knows you are there to learn and grow, and doesn't expect you to arrive knowing perfect alignment or even being able to touch your toes.
HOW IS YOGA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FORMS OF EXERCISE?
Unlike other stretching programs or fitness programs, yoga addresses more than just the physical body. The yoga sage Patanjali outlined the eight limbs of yoga, of which physical postures are just one part. Taken together, the 8 limbs encourage an introspective gaze towards one's thoughts and actions while cultivating mindfulness, non-attachment, and non-judgment of oneself and others.

Bridget's classes offer students a sense of compassion and safety supported by a strong foundation in the philosophy of this ancient practice. Her teaching is underscored by a solid understanding of anatomy and the ability to help students build the necessary skills that allow them to receive the many benefits of yoga in their own practice. She has a gentle presence and clarity in her own practice that allows her to share her knowledge with students of all levels.
Leslie C., E-RYT 500, YACEP
Class with Bridget is always a pleasure. She offers excellent descriptions on how to move in and out of each position. She is thoughtful in how she puts together each session and I always leave feeling centered.
